MEASURED presented at the AMSIC-4 2024
The 4th Congress of the African Membrane Society took place in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, with the aim of learn and examine how scientific research and technology can influence the emergence of sustainable development practices in Africa and across the globe.
Motivations and purpose:
• Engage in cutting-edge discussions on membrane technology and filtration processes.
• Collaborate with African scientists and international experts to address global challenges.
• Promote the development of an entrepreneurial membrane filtration ecosystem in Africa
• Explore Ethiopia’s rich cultural and religious heritage, stunning natural landscapes, and a thriving youth community.
Our colleagues from University of Calabria – Department of Environmental and Chemical Engineering, presented the MEASURED project with the abstract “Integrated Membrane Approaches for Resource Recovery”.
This work highlights how membrane technologies offer efficient and sustainable solutions for water purification, energy generation, and mineral recovery. Key methods include Membrane Distillation (MD), Reverse Electrodialysis (RED), and Electrodialysis (ED). Hybrid systems like MD-RED and MD-ED integrate these processes, enabling simultaneous resource recovery and addressing environmental challenges. Their effectiveness depends on high-quality membrane materials, supporting greener technological pathways.
